Made to Measure Curtains now available at POLE DESIGN

We are delighted to announce our new curtain making service at Pole Design. As I started out as a Designer and Soft Furnisher it seems a shame not to offer a curtain making service on our online shop.  I have many years of experience in the soft furnishings industry and am now missing the practical side of things.  Curtain poles require curtains so why not use Pole Design as a one stop shop.

If its Roman Blinds you are after then you will get the same high quality. We only make sewn in rod pockets, hand stab stitched because we believe your blinds should look good from both sides of your window. No ugly tapes or rows of machine stitching here.

Silent Gliss roman blind track systems can be purchased from our online shop at our usual discounted rates giving you top quality at a great price.

We don't cut corners and believe only the best will do.

Bay Window Calculator

will be uploading onto the POLE DESIGN website a sample of a system generated drawing you will receive when you order a bay window curtain pole from  Pole Design

Once you have taken your measurements and angles you e mail them to us.

We then enter them into some specially developed software from Silent Gliss which  generates a scale drawing of your bay.  It shows you the outline of your bay and the exact position within the bay of your pole or track. It is at this point we can tell if you have made any major error with your measurements.

This allows you to have complete confidence in your measurements and thus minimises any risk of error.  See sample of Bay Window Calculator below.

Its a great tool and it works!

Reduced Prices on the Silent Gliss Metropole till 31st December 2009

We have reduced the prices on the whole Silent Gliss Metropole range till 31st December 2009.  This is because our current supplier is giving us extra discount and we have decided to pass this onto our customers to give you a better deal.

All our products in the Silent Gliss range carry a five year guarantee and we really know what we are talking about with Silent Gliss.  We pass on our valuable expertise to the customer.  We know when you need to use extension brackets and adjustable brackets for difficult situations and we don't just shove the order through for an easy life.  We will tell you what you need as long as you give us as much info as possible.

The Metropole really comes into its own on long straight runs up to 600cm and over.  Brackets are placed every 60cm and do not obstruct the curtains and the gliders allow the curtains ease of movement.

Silent Gliss Metropole  for bay windows is the best system on the market as it is bent to fit.  You will notice we don't sell any other Bay Window poles in our Pole Design that's because there really is nothing else to compare that really works.  We don't want to take the risk of selling dodgy corner brackets and C rings that we know are no good.

We have hands on experience in measuring and fitting for bay windows and motorised systems and what we don't know we will find out!

Cup Brackets v Metal Brackets on curtain poles

Many of our customers opt for matching cup brackets when purchasing some of the more bespoke curtain poles.

It is personal choice but as a Designer I feel the metal bracket imparts a more traditional/classic feel to a pole.  If you have brass or chrome door handles, window hardware or a light fitting  - pick this up on your curtain pole brackets to create a link in the room.  It will look like more thought has gone into the scheme and will look more designed.  Metal brackets are more noticeable due to their high shine whereas painted brackets blend in more with the pole.

I also like architrave brackets which are painted to match but are more streamlined. Some of the Byron and Byron ranges and Alison Davies Design curtain poles give you a choice of bracket.

Byron & Byron Florentina Tiara - Now Available to Purchase Online at POLE DESIGN

Pole Design  have been quick off the mark to list the full range including accessories.  These stunning wooden curtain poles are hand crafted with contemporary metallic paint finishes Satin Silver Black, Dark Pearl, Modern Gold and Light Pearl. Each finial is studded with crystals that catch the light and give a glamorous feel to any room whether you live in a semi or a mansion.  Chandelier not compulsory...

If you are not keen on the glitz but love the finishes go for the plainer Modern Ball.

There are also four matching wooden holdbacks and four tassel tiebacks in silky cord to match.

I will shortly be listing the poles with the Decor End Cap and the Decor Cylinder without rings suitable for eyelet curtains.  These geometric shaped finials look great with eyelet curtains.  Did you know that Eyelet curtains were very popular in the 1950's?  There has been a revival of this trend over the last five years and there are no signs of a slowdown.

We hope you like them.

Bay Window Curtain Poles

IS YOUR BAY WINDOW DRIVING YOU ROUND THE BEND?

Measuring for a Bay Window Curtain Pole or Track to the average person can seem daunting...... However it is not difficult if you follow these instructions:.

Tools required to measure a bay window are: a steel measuring tape, a protractor, most likely a step ladder and an extra pair of hands would come in useful too.

Ensure your old fitting has been taken down first for accuracy.

Simply start your measurements from where you would like the pole or finial to end and measure accurately between each angle with your tape measure. Jot your measurements down and make a sketch of your window shape as well. All your measurements including angles must be taken at the same height the pole will be fitted. Take the long measurement at the front of the bay as well. This is important as it will act as a double check for the other measurements.

Remember to look closely at radiators and windowsills as you will want your curtains to hang in front if possible. Take a note of your preferred projection for each facet of the bay. You may want the sides of the Bay Pole to project 10cm and the middle to project 6cm. This can all be achieved with Silent Gliss systems.

The Metropole from Silent Gliss is the best bay window pole on the market. Made from aluminium they come in three diameters 23mm, 30mm and 50mm with a choice of hand or cord operated. They come in 13 finishes including wood and a variety of mix and match finials. They are made to measure and are bent in the Silent Gliss factory to fit your Bay Window.

For further information take a look at Pole Design. You can purchase a refundable protractor for £4.99 to assist you and for this price we will check your measurements with our special software to minimise any error
