Fitting Curtain Poles

Poles should be fixed to either the height of the window or 10-15cm above the architrave and should be extended either side of the window so that the curtains stack back over the wall rather than over the window.

If the pole is to be extended either side of the window with a deep architrave and the brackets are to be fixed to the wall mount the brackets on wooden blocks as deep as the architrave, to allow the rings free movement along the pole.

Tip of the Day

Curtain poles 50mm and over are best for high ceilings of around 300cm +. They create more impact where a smaller diameter pole could look 'lost' in the decor.

Take a look at the wide range available from Byron and Byron, Alison Davies Design, Museum and Advent Designs for a traditional look. For a more contemporary streamlined look take a look at the Silent Gliss 50mm Metropole. All of these available at Pole Design
