In the last 18 months there have been five child fatalities in the UK as a result of strangulation in blind cords. Whilst the risk posed by blind cords and chains is extremely slight, the consequences are devastating so Silent Gliss plan to 'Make It Safe' and make sure our customers do the same.

Pole Design are supplying all made to measure Silent Gliss Roman Blind Tracks operated by bead and loop chains with a Safety Cord Retainer when purchased online. The range we supply which is provided with this special safety feature includes the Silent Gliss 2020 track, the Silent Gliss 2120 for heavier blinds, also the Silent Gliss 2320 and the Silent Gliss 2330  all come with five year guarantee on parts as is usual with all Silent Gliss products.

If a cord retainer is supplied- make sure to fit it! Other tips if small children are around:

■Make sure all cords are out of reach.

■If a safety cleat or retainer cannot be fitted cut the loop and add toggles instead.

■A child's cot, bed, highchair or playpen should not be positioned near to window blinds.

■Children love to climb - do not place sofas, chairs, tables or bookcases near to a window blind.
